Business, economic, and community growth
  • Manage population growth as set out in the proposed KAMPLAN
  • Reduce barriers to entry for new businesses and ventures
    • Prevent and reduce ‘red tape’ and ‘costs of compliance’
  • Encourage grassroots innovation and development in our community
    • Support small business, social enterprise, and non-profits in creating effective solutions to various problems in the city
  • Ensure city venues and programs have viable business models
  • Develop solutions to parking issues in high-traffic neighbourhoods
Serving social difficulties
  • Evaluate affordable housing and addiction program outcomes and encourage effective solutions that are evidence-backed
    • Inform citizens of the challenges / successes of current programs
    • Ensure the needs of program users are met while avoiding a concentration of services in certain neighbourhoods
  • Curtail the stigma faced by at-risk people in Kamloops
  • Create meaningful incentives to attract doctors to our community
  • Stem aggressive panhandling that harms business and deters people from enjoying our city’s commercial areas



​Accountable, collaborative, and representative council
  • Build a dynamic with council that accounts for the diverse views of all city residents
    • Ensure a balance exists between local interests on all issues
  • Work with community groups to ensure the city’s policies meet the economic, social, and environmental needs of various neighborhoods
  • Engage residents to communicate new policies and gather valuable feedback​
Sustainability and environment
  • Address concerns with our sustainability programs i.e.recycling
    • Implement reduction-first strategies to complement recycling
  • Increase walkability and livability of commercial areas
    • through use of beautification, mixed-use development, etc.
    • Goal: to reduce urban sprawl and automobile dependence, thus reducing emissions and other environmental impacts
  • Encourage walking, bicycle and public transit by innovating and investing in these transportation systems
  • Avoid costly and ineffective measures while implementing effective, affordable, practical solutions to our city’s environmental issues
